"Virtually Famous" is the first episode of the third season of the animated series Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures. It was released on Netflix on February 14, 2019.[1] The official description reads, "Barbie's friends want to be internet celebrities, but learn that fame isn't all it's cracked up to be when their goofy vlog post goes viral."[2]

Story[]

Barbie has "vlogger's block", so she can't think of a vlog idea. Teresa has a list of ideas after analysing popular videos. Teresa, Nikki, Daisy, Renee and Ken agree to help Barbie. They film a vlog of Teresa and Renee competing to stay seated on a pool float seesaw. Barbie posts it online and it goes viral, so Teresa says they'll need to post lots of videos quickly to take advantage of the popularity. Teresa enthusiastically tells everyone to go home and practice weird skills for Barbie's vlogs. Teresa says making viral vlogs will change Barbie's life, but Barbie feels indifferent because she likes her life how it is.

Later, Barbie goes to her bedroom and sees her friends are all there. George says he let them in. Barbie's friends are all busy: Teresa, Nikki and Daisy are using computers; Ken is looking at vlog ideas; and Renee is juggling bananas while hopping and balancing things on her head. Teresa says she will be Barbie's Content Manager, Producer and Director. Barbie is still unenthusiastic, but she thinks there's a small part of her that wants internet fame, so she keeps going along with her friends.

Barbie's neighbor Trey is annoyed that Barbie and her friends have gone viral. Ned films Trey eating, and Ted says it wouldn't be hard for them to make their own viral video. Trey pretends it was his idea to make a video. While Trey and Ted try to think of ideas, a squirrel steals Trey's food. Ned and Ted laugh at Trey, and Ned films Trey trying to get his food back from the squirrel. Barbie and her friends film several viral videos, which Trey and his friends fail to copy.

Teresa becomes obsessed with making viral vlogs. Barbie wants to express her doubts to Teresa, but decides not to after seeing how excited Teresa is. Later, Barbie lets Taffy outside and is shocked to see all of her friends in her backyard. They are preparing to film videos and have already yarn bombed the trampoline. Teresa tells Barbie that she might have some endorsement deals for her. For a vlog, Barbie puts on a balloon costume and her friends dress as bowling pins. They film a "human bowling" video, but the camera gets knocked over. Ned and Ted think the bowling video is awesome, so Trey tells them to go away.

Teresa wants her friends to do another take of the video. Barbie takes a break and sits outside the front of the Dreamhouse. She sees Ned sitting down, and they can relate over how they're finding it hard to talk to their friends. Ned says people do crazy things when they're scared to tell others how they really feel. He uses examples such as when Daisy delayed going to music festival because she was nervous performing in front of a large crowd, or when Barbie was trying to help Renee impress her relatives. Barbie asks if Ned found out about those situations from watching her vlogs. Ned says he watches Barbie's videos because he likes her honesty and finds her relatable. Barbie thanks Ned, gives him a fist bump, and goes to talk to Teresa.

Barbie confesses to Teresa that she doesn't want to keep trying to make viral videos and chasing stardom. Barbie wants her vlogs to go back to making connections with people and sharing her life. Teresa apologizes and says she liked working as a team. Barbie says her friends and family are her life, and the viral videos were fun at first, but it got out of control and she didn't know how to stop it. Barbie and Teresa hug. Their friends want to keep filming fun videos, so Barbie says they'll do it her way. They do a lip dub of the Dreamhouse Adventures theme song with Barbie's friends and family, the puppies, the Reardons, and Ned and Ted. The puppies chase the Reardons after the lip dub. Barbie says the most popular video of all was the one of Trey trying to get his food from the squirrel, and her vlog will return to its classic format.
