Tango Barbie.

Tango Barbie, sometimes called the Shannen or New Hispanic face, is a face sculpt patented in 2001 and first introduced with the 2002 Tango Barbie and Ken Giftset.

Overview[]

For the Tango giftset, Barbie and Ken were given brand new face sculpts that were ethnically correct for the set. Tango became the name-giver for both the Barbie and Ken sculpts introduced in the set, so they're commonly referred to as the Tango Barbie and Tango Ken face sculpts to differentiate them. The sculpts were initially created for collector dolls before they eventually transitioned into playline, with Tango Barbie in particular being used as the official face for Shannen in the Fashion Fever line. The face is more commonly used for Hispanic / Latina dolls but has shown to have versatility, being used for AA, Caucasian, and even as an Asian girl with the BMR1959 Doll (GPF15) by Carlyle Nuera.
