Steffie is a character that first appeared in 1972. She was discontinued in 1973, and she was Barbie's friend. Despite her disappearance, her face mold would continue to be used on Barbie dolls, both playline and collector, ever since.
In the same year that Steffie was introduced, the facemold had already been used for P.J., who formerly used the Midge Face. Other characters like Barbie and her friends Christie, Midge, Teresa and Summer use the Steffie face sculpt occasionally. The Steffie face mold was also used for the historically important First Black Barbie from 1980.
