- 1970 - Twist 'n Turn Stacey #1165 (blonde)
- 1970 - Talking Stacey #1125 (titian)
There were two versions of Stacey - TNT (Twist 'n Turn) and Talking Stacey. Between 1968 and 1971, there were three different TNT Stacey versions and two different Talking Staceys. She was permanently retired after 1971.
After Vintage Barbie Dolls, Stacey remains among the most popular and desired dolls among collectors. This, along with the fact that each version was produced for only one to two years and therefore harder to find than other dolls, makes her one of the more valuable dolls to acquire.
Stacey had three different hairstyles through the years - the TNT version had a long ponytail in 1968 and a short bob from 1969 to 1971. Talking Stacey had a side ponytail.
Physical Appearance[]
Stacey had rooted eyelashes, blue eyes, and red/auburn or light blond hair variants were offered for all versions. She had three different hairstyles: a chin-length bob or a long ponytail in two slightly different styles: though all versions had a left part/parting, the ponytail was swept to her left for the Talking Stacey, who had a short, unparted fringe across her forehead, whilst the early TNT versions had a central ponytail (slightly to her right often) plus a pin curl ("kiss curl") on her forehead, aligned with the part, instead of a fringe. Later TNT Staceys switched to the short bob, which made it far easier to differentiate the TNT and Talking versions from that point. All Stacey models shared a new head mold that was rather different from the then-current Barbie "Mod" head mold, with a smile and visible teeth, smiling eyes which faced more forwards and a distinctly different profile without Mod-era Barbie's unusual, almost horizontal nose bridge. Despite Stacey being a relatively short-lived character who never reappeared herself, her head mold was reused for some subsequent models of Barbie herself, such as the early Malibu Barbie models, though the different style used for Malibu Barbie's painted features made any resemblance to Stacey surprisingly hard to spot.
