My country is on an island in the ocean. It's called England. The capital is London. There are 6000 buses in London. Drivers sit on the right side of the buses and cars, and drive on the left side of the road. For a few cents, you can sail the Thames River in London with a guide to point out the sights. You can see Scotland Yard, the famous police headquarters. You can also see the famous clock, Big Ben, above the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben's minute hand is 14 feet long! The Queen and Royal Family live in Buckingham Palace. Outside are many Guardsmen. Each morning there's a ceremony when the Guard changes. English schools are among the finest in the world. Two famous universities are Oxford and Cambridge. Some important places outside of London are Nottingham, where the outlaw Robin Hood lived, and Stratford, where the writer William Shakespeare was born. Although we speak the same language, there are some words that are quite different. Here are some examples.
