The Ricky doll was released in 1965.[2] The date on the box is 1964,[3] and the product code is 1090.[4] The doll was in production for two years,[5] and six fashions were made for it.[6]

Description[]

The Ricky doll is 9 1/4" tall[7] and there is a tag on the doll's arm that says "GENUINE RICKY™ BY MATTEL®".[8] The doll comes with a black wire stand and a booklet of "Junior Edition" Styles for Ricky, Skipper, and Skooter.[9] The Ricky dolls from 1965 has tan skin, and in early 1966, the dolls had pink skin.[10] The doll has moulded red hair, blue eyes, and freckles. The body is the same as Skipper and Skooter's bodies were at the time,[11] so it has straight legs.[12] The doll's jacket has a white terry cloth collar, and the sandals are made of cork. The body is marked "©1963 Mattel, Inc.", and the inner rim of the head has a marking that says "Copyr.© 1963/Mattel, Inc."[13]
