Julia Baker is a doll based on the character from the pioneering sitcom Julia. Julia was a nurse and she was played by the multi-talented actress and activist Diahann Carroll.
Diahann Carroll
Her doll used the Christie face mold. She was an example of the earliest celebrity dolls produced by Mattel and also the first African-American celebrity doll in the Barbie line. She was advertised as fitting Barbie's fashions and often appeared alongside Barbie and her friends in promotional material.
