Brazilian Banana Bonanza Barbie is a Gold Label Collector Barbie designed by Bob Mackie and released in 2012 as part of the Bob Mackie Barbie Dolls Collection.
Description[]
Bob Mackie's design for this doll was inspired by South American culture and the Brazilian icon Carmen Miranda. The doll is dressed in a white-and-lime striped sarong. Her skirt is edged with a bounty of plastic bananas that dangle off the edges. Her basket headpiece is decorated with fruit and hibiscus blossoms. Her shoes are lace-up platform sandals and her accessories include colorful earrings and bangles. She also comes with a pet, a parrot that rests on top of her golden rod.
The doll comes fixed onto her doll stand, with the name Bob Mackie emblazoned on it. She is secured to the base, making it very hard to remove her from it. The doll is advertised to adult collectors, and is not meant to be a toy but rather a display piece. As a result, her fashion and accessories are fixed / sewn on to her and not removable. She also comes with rooted eyelashes.
Trivia[]
- The doll has the traditional Model Muse body but with some slight alterations. Her arms reuse the same mold from the 2010 Holiday Barbie. It's a unique arm configuration rarely seen on ModelMuse dolls.
