Description[]

"What a SMART Cookie!

Let's go over to Barbie doll's place for some study time - and snack time! She always knows what's right! And she always has OREO cookies. They go perfectly with studying! Her outrageous OREO purse goes great with her outfit too! Sweet!

DID YOU KNOW OREOO COOKIES WERE INTRODUCE IN 1912?

3 IN A ROW!
Play tic-tac-toe with a friend at lunch or snack time after studying. Draw a big tic-tac-toe grid and play with OREO or MINI OREO cookies. Take apart five cookies; play the plain cookie halves against the other halves with the white crème showing.

*(Ask your parents if it's OK to play with the cookies.)"

Controversy[]

Regarding the African-American version of the doll, the website authentichistory.com wrote, "it is amazing to consider that not one person in the corporate chain-of-command considered the common knowledge that the word Oreo is a derogatory term for an African American person who acts like, sympathizes with, or dates/marries, whites (like an Oreo cookie: black on the outside, white on the inside). To call an African American on Oreo is akin to calling him an Uncle Tom)."[2]

Trivia[]

  • These dolls were preceded by Oreo Fun Barbie from 1997, though that version was only available in a Caucasian variant.
  • Some versions of Oreo School Time Fun Barbie came with a brown skirt instead of a blue one.
