4ocean x Barbie Limited Edition Beaded Bracelet 01

The 4ocean x Barbie Limited Edition Beaded Bracelet was released in 2021. It is part of The Future of Pink is Green brand campaign. A press release for the campaign reads, "Barbie is teaming up with 4ocean, a purpose-driven business on a mission to end the ocean plastic crisis, to launch a limited-edition 4ocean x Barbie bracelet in signature pink made with post-consumer recycled materials and hand-assembled by artisans in Bali. For every bracelet sold, 4ocean will pull one pound of trash from oceans, rivers and coastlines and contribute educational materials to inspire and empower the next generation." The bracelets are made from 100% recycled materials,[1] and they cost $20 each.

Hand assembled by an artisan in Bali, Indonesia[]

"Purchasing a 4ocean bracelet does more than clean the ocean. It also creates sustainable, living-wage jobs.

As soon as our beads, cords, and charms reach our main facility in Denpasar, Bali, a crew loads up our van and motorbikes to distribute these components to artisans in remote villages scattered across the island.

Women comprise 80 percent of this workforce. In Bali, women tend to assume the role of primary caretakers for their families, which means their job opportunities are limited. Because they’re able to hand assemble our bracelets in their homes and village centers, more women are able to join the workforce while continuing to care for their families."[3]
