Some people said it was "cancelled" in Japan, referring to cancel culture, but it was not literally banned. Like I said, it came out August 11th. It was only banned in Vietnam.

It couldn't have been 2014 because Dreamtopia wasn't copyrighted until 2015.

I think it was just done as a joke aimed at people who knew Chelsea as Kelly.

In 2010, a Barbie collector said, "We were told at convention in the BFC* event that Kelly's name will indeed be changed to Chelsea. Kelly has been known as Shelly in Europe because of licensing/trademarks and a consistent name worldwide was preferred. We were told that Chelsea was originally Kelly's middle name and was chosen for the continuation of the revamped and updated upcoming line."
*BFC means Barbie Fan Club.
That matches what the text says in the pic @The Beautiful People posted where Chelsea says her name changed so she could be universally known by one name.

She got replaced with Chelsea in like 2011. Kelly is in earlier Barbie movies like Barbie in the Nutcracker, Barbie as Rapunzel, Barbie of Swan Lake, and Barbie in A Christmas Carol.

All these dolls are beautiful! I picked the vampire one cause the dress reminds me of a flower and I like how her hair is styled.
They don't seem to have names, they just seem to be called the Extra Crew. I wish they had names like some of the Fashionistas dolls do.
I agree that the new films definitely don't feel the same, but whenever I miss the old style, I can just go back and watch them. I still get excited when new movies come out.
